Vijali Hamilton is a visionary artist, sculptor, poet, musician, author, and teacher. Over one thousand of her artworks are in museums, public places, and private collections. She gives seminars and retreats on meditation and the creative process, internationally and at her retreat center home in the Canyonlands of Utah. Early in her life, Vijali spent ten years as a monastic member of the Vedanta Society convent in Santa Barbara. Later she received her Masters in Fine Arts from Goddard College. She is a fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science.

In 1986, she founded her first World Wheel Project, a seven-year spiritual and artistic pilgrimage during which she circled the globe creating monumental stone sculptures and community-based performances in twelve countries. In 1999, she began the Second World Wheel Project. This project again circles the planet, now creating Wisdom Centers in twelve countries to preserve as well as develop knowledge for the healing and survival of our planet. These Centers create a crucible for the cross-cultural emergence of wisdom needed for our future. The Second World Wheel Project is dedicated to the children of our world.

The Deep Green Awakening extended community would like to express our deep appreciation to Vijali for making available a free PDF edition  of her book,    World Wheel: One Woman’s Quest for Peace.    This amazing book, full of extraordinary artwork, is now available for everyone interested in how art, nature, spirituality and community can be woven together into a radiant unity.

Journey with Vijali on her global pilgrimage as she sculpts environmental stonework acupressure points circling the planet and develops community with her World Wheel, Global Peace through Art. This is the story of how one woman transforms a childhood of deprivation and aloneness into a love affair with the entire world. With an artist’s valuable insight, she urges us to find our own voice as she takes us to the far corners of the world, embracing the planet and its people as one family.

Praise for World Wheel:

“As we travel with Vijali Hamilton, we come to understand the transformative power of moral imagination and wisdom of the heart. This is where many Cultural Creatives like Vijali are headed now—directly into the core of the problems of our common world.”

 — Paul Ray and Sherry Ruth Anderson, authors of The Cultural Creatives
